Data Relay postpones to help SQLBits, a united community

It is a difficult time for conferences with the COVID-19 virus outbreak. As a conference owner we we have to think about the #SQLFamily and how to help keep everyone as safe as possible. It is with regret that we, Data Relay had to postpone our event in September, however I was proud to be part of a team that worked with a united community front. We have enabled SQLBits to move dates to 29th September - 3rd October, the original Data Relay dates. We now have to plan for a new set of Data Relay events and will share these once we have sorted this out.

I am excited to share the 2020 Data Relay tour details. We will be returning to Reading this year following a break last year. The dates and venues are:

After Data Relay

Data Relay has finished for the 2019 season. This year I was involved as Head of Marketing and was the Bristol event owner again. I enjoyed being a part of the Data Relay team. It is great to be able to put on an event with free training across the breadth of the Microsoft Data Platform.

With the emergence of big data this has created a new paradigm for data and database management.  Structured and unstructured data must now work together to produce actionable insights. This session will share details on how to embrace this new era of database management, to prepare you for SQL Server 2019.

Data Relay 2019

Data Relay (formerly SQL Relay) announced their 2019 training conferences covering Microsoft Azure, Data, AI and Analytics. They are visiting the cities of Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham and Bristol. There is a new website https://datarelay.co.uk/ to share all the latest news. The Twitter handle is @DataRelay_uk , the Linkedin group and Facebook page.

The Data Relay Journey

This year I was Head of Marketing and Social Media for Data Relay, the conference previously known as SQL Relay. It is a privilege to be able to help put on an event which in 5 consecutive days, travels to 5 different UK cities across the breadth of the country. This year we invested a lot of time trying to improve the conference. We re-branded to Data Relay to be more in keeping with the breadth of the Microsoft Data Platform. We introduced a Code of Conduct to help encourage diversity at the conference and several other things. Our aim is to keep improving the conference.

I was the Bristol Venue Event Owner and this time delivered a session about the end to end process of data management, things to consider when improving data quality and data science in industry, based on findings from my PhD research. The session also covered data collection areas, that are often led by marketing teams. I shared details of my research findings about the complexity of managing database systems, the use of the Microsoft data platform for research and the possible future AI developments to help people manage database systems with greater ease.

Research skills for industry experts

It is great to see the name of the SQL Relay conference change to Data Relay. The conference encompasses the full breath of the Microsoft data platform and provides free Microsoft Data, AI & Analytics training conferences on your doorstep.

I am privileged to be speaking on Friday at Data Relay in Bristol to share my experience of providing high quality data analytics for my research using the Microsoft Data Platform.
